How this site is built
A contractor’s own site is the first sample of their work, so this one is built the way we build for clients: small, fast, accessible and easy to hand over.

The stack
- Astro renders every page to plain HTML at build time. There is no client-side framework.
- Tailwind CSS 4 provides the design tokens. The CSS is inlined into each page, so there is no extra stylesheet to wait for.
- IBM Plex Sans and Plex Mono are self-hosted, preloaded, and given metric-matched fallbacks so text doesn’t jump as they load.
- A few small scripts run the star field, the command menu, the checks and the project form. Everything you read works without them.
- The sky is one canvas, drawn each frame and paused whenever it’s off-screen or the tab is hidden. Constellation art loads only when you hover it.
The sky
- The stars on the home page are real: 3,232 stars from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue, placed for Berkeley, California, looking south, and run as a gentle time-lapse.
- Star and constellation-line data: d3-celestial, © 2015 Olaf Frohn, BSD 3-Clause License.
- Constellation figures: Stellarium, illustrations under the Free Art License 1.3, anchor data CC BY-SA 4.0.
